Even today, many power tools on the market rely on disposable batteries or manufacturer-specific battery systems. This lack of compatibility forces users to purchase expensive batteries and tools from different brands - a problem that not only wastes resources but also increases costs for consumers.
Mellif's founder, Devin Lee, is a passionate engineer and a keen DeWALT user. While discussing with other DeWALT fans, he came up with an innovative idea: Ryobi had launched the first cordless battery-powered hot glue gun, but other brands didn't offer comparable solutions yet. So why not develop a hot glue gun compatible with DeWALT batteries instead of forcing users to buy new batteries?
Mellif's first product: Creating more value for batteries ♻️🔧
With this vision, Mellif developed the first battery-operated hot glue gun that is compatible with DeWALT 18V/20V batteries. Users no longer had to buy additional special batteries, but could continue to use their existing batteries for creative DIY projects, repairs and craft work.
The response was overwhelming: DeWALT users around the world were thrilled. The solution was not only practical and cost-saving, but also actively contributed to reducing battery waste - because many batteries often remain unused when tools are rarely used.

Mellif's success was just the beginning. We realised that greater compatibility between tools and batteries could help avoid the excessive purchase and disposal of batteries. That's why we expanded our product range and now offer a variety of innovative solutions:
